Bali Art Camp- One of the old villages in Bali is Batuan Village. It is also known as the Village of Arts.  Batuan is a home to many great artists. Great dancers, musicians, and painters come from this village. Thus they have their own styles of painting called Batuan Style and Batuan Style Gambuh Dance. Almost all people learn arts from a very young age to preserve this ancient culture.

Art Classes in Bali art camp

Batuan has so many art activities to discover. One of the best places to learn about these arts is Tri Pusaka Sakti Art Foundation. Previously known as Panti Pusaka Budaya, founded by I Made Djimat, the famous Master of Balinese Dance.  In this place, besides of observing you can learn from the Master of Balinese dance. We provide you with variations of the art experience. Your chosen variation will determine what type of art class you will attend. Following are the variations you may choose after selecting the check-in date during the booking process:

a. Dance and Gamelan Class: in this class, you can learn the traditional Balinese dance and music.

b. Batik Class: you will learn the process of making Batik, start from the plain white clothes and transform it into a beautiful piece of artwork.

c. Painting Class: Batuan style painting is a unique style of painting that only found in Batuan. You can learn to paint this style in this class.

d. Wood Carving Class: get the experiences of using a traditional equipment. You will carve a piece of wood using the traditional chisel and wooden hammer.

e. Leather Carving Class: learn how to transform a piece of buffalo leather into a puppet or traditional dance accessories.

You will learn in our workshop and an open stage called Umah Kodok or the House of Frogs. For three days you will live closely with the master’s family and learn the dance and gamelan as well as our way of life.

Day 1- Arrival and First Lesson-  Bali Art Camp

By the time you arrive at Umah Kodok, they will take you around to give you a brief explanation about the arts and culture of Bali.

You can see their collection of dance costumes, masks, and headdress. During this introduction, you might ask any question about Balinese culture and this place to your host. After this introduction, you will have lunch and can proceed to your room to take a rest before you start your first lesson.

Start at about 15.00 in the afternoon, you will start your first lesson during this camp. in this class, the teacher will teach you mainly about the basic of Balinese arts of your choice. For two hours, the lesson will be the foundation for your next step. You will find some fascinating techniques and the teacher will be happy to explain to you if you have any inquiries.

After the lesson, you can have a rest and prepare your self to have a dinner. Dinner will be served by your host. You can also feel the atmosphere of the Bali family during your first dinner there.

Day 2- Visit Pura Desa Batuan- Bali art camp

You will be wake up early this morning and take a small breakfast. Your second lesson begins at about 7.30 or 8.00 in the morning. Feel the calm weather of the village and you can hear the birds chattering. Just across the fence of Umah Kodok, there is a rice field. If you are lucky enough, you can see the green rice plant and the farmer take care of their plant. You can feel the sensation of learning the arts while you are very close to nature.

Clean your self after the lesson. We will go to an ancient temple of Batuan. It is called Pura Desa Batuan. It has a prehistoric building in the compound so that you can see all the legacy of ancient culture. Do not forget to bring your camera and take tons of photo! Alternately, we can go to  Batuan Museum, this privately owned museum store a lot of paintings. Ranging from the classical painting as well as modern art, you can learn a lot from their collection. The two place is in a walking distance from Umah Kodok. Do not forget to bring your hat and grab some drink.

Back to Umah Kodok, you can have your lunch and take a rest before your second class of the day begins. At 15.00 your class will start. Finishing your class, you will have some time to observe the nature near Umah Kodok. You can go to the rice fields and see the sunset or socialize with people around.

Day 3- Bali Art Camp

Today’s lesson will be your last lesson. Wake up early and grab your breakfast. Start your lesson and get the most out of it. Your free time after the lesson can be spent to meet people and taking the photos in the village.  You will have your lunch before heading to your next destination. We hope that you enjoy this three days camp and enjoy a memorable unique experience.
