Jomblang Cave was formed about thousands of years ago because of the geological process where the land along with its vegetation sank to the bottom of the earth. This ruined and formed a sinkhole or well-known in the Javanese Language as Luweng Jomblang. This Luweng Jomblang is about 50 meters wide. UNESCO set the karst area of Sewu Mountain as the member of Global Geopark Network in 2015 and until now Jomblang Cave is set as the icon of world geopark. However, long before that, Jomblang Cave was already known for its amazing experience. It was even used as the shooting location of Amazing Race America in 2011.
