Surviving a Tsunami in Indonesia: a Simple Guide
Surviving a tsunami in Indonesia or anywhere in the world is not only about what you do after the earthquake attack and tsunami warning released. It began from the time you arrive in your vacation place. The first thing that you should do is to know the area. Please observe your place and looking for the tsunami evacuation route sign. The sign is usually visible in the roadside or strategic places. We all do not want to face a disaster during our stay, but being cautious is one of the basic rules to survive.
If there is a big earthquake, you have to protect your self and don’t panic. Please remember that if you do not survive during the earthquake, you will not survive the tsunami. Â After the earthquake end, make sure to look at these sign after the quake: water recession and a loud roar. if you observe this two sign, please be ready to evacuate yourself to the higher ground. The sooner you go, the better. Please bear in mind that you should save your life and not to save your belongings.
The tsunami is a series of waves, so please stay for a while in the evacuation ground. Do not rush yourself to leave the evacuation ground before the tsunami warning has ended. Remember that even though the first tsunami is done, there might be other waves that could come. The first wave is not necessarily the biggest wave. If you are unable to reach the safe place and trapped in the water, make sure that you can grab something that can float you, so you can be spotted by the rescuer after the tsunami.
